Medicaid is a program for New Yorkers who cannot afford medical care. Eligible individuals include those with high medical bills, recipients of SSI or those meeting certain financial requirements. Applications can be made through the NY State of Health marketplace, managed care organizations, navigators and certified application counselors or local social services offices.
