Jewish Family Services of Ulster County

JFS provides in-home social work services for older adults of all faiths in the community who could not otherwise access more traditional office-based mental health services. JFS is the only social service agency in the county to provide Behavioral Health Services in clients’ homes instead of requiring them to come to an office.

Providing In-Home Supportive Counseling and psychotherapy to seniors and their caregivers in their homes.

Assessment and Referral: Evaluate mental health status, ability to perform activities of daily living, as well as information and referral to support services that include long-range planning and evaluation of options.

Caregiver Support (online): Responds to the needs of caregivers, addressing the emotional, familial, interpersonal, and economic stress that can lead to Caregiver Burnout.

REST program: This program trains volunteers to provide temporary short-term relief for caregivers of individuals with special needs. The idea is to provide overworked caregivers with a little free time to do errands or go to appointments or shopping or anything that they need to give them a break from the strains associated with being an in-home caregiver.

Compassionate Phone Call Program: A senior may be living alone and also feel isolated. We will check on his or her well-being, listen, and offer much-needed companionship and conversation by phone.

E-MDTs (Enhanced Multidisciplinary Teams) are composed of professionals from various disciplines whose primary focus is to investigate, intervene, and prevent elder abuse and financial exploitation.
